QCI and KVIC

News: The Quality Council of India (QCI) and Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently signed an initial pact to enhance the quality of the latter’s products, train artisans, and introduce ‘Made in India’ label for Khadi.

About QCI:
• The Quality Council of India (QCI) is a national body established by the Government of India and the Indian industry associations. It was set up as a public-private partnership model in 1996 to promote quality culture and standards across all social and economic sectors.
• The QCI is self-sustaining and does not receive funding from the government. It functions under the directions of its Governing Body and works with the support of the Government of India and the Indian Industry represented by three premier industry associations: Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)

About KVIC:
• Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body of the Indian Constitution.
• It comes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
• It was established by Khadi and Village Industries Act, 1956. It has been amended twice, in 1965 and 2006.
