The GPSC exams are adjusting to resemble the UPSC format. Therefore, it is advisable to emphasize analytical preparation over mere factual knowledge. An analytical approach will prove significantly beneficial.

Concentrate more on Gujarat-centric topics rather than allocating excessive time to broader national subjects. This approach holds importance as your association will primarily be with the Gujarat government.

Instead of delving into an array of diverse books, channel your efforts towards the ones endorsed by the Gujarat government. For instance, prioritize resources like the GCERT book and publications from the Gujarat University Granth Nirman board, as they will be particularly advantageous.

The medium of the examination shall be English and Gujarati. Gujarati and English Papers in Mains Exam shall be in a respective language only. In case of the question of interpretation of syllabus, the interpretation of the English shall be final.

The first examination will be Prelims exams and MCQ type. The paper should be in the two way General Studies-1 and General studies-2. And total marks is 400, both paper conducting 200 marks each. GPSC practice questions are available on our APP

In General Studies-1 the topics are History, Cultural History, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, International Relations, and General Mental Ability.

In General Studies-2 the topics are Indian Economy and Planning, Geography, Science and Technology, Current Events of Regional, National and International Importance.

Then after comes Mains examination in this all paper are descriptive. The total marks is 900. In mains examination first the Gujarati paper, English paper, Essay paper, General Studies-1, General studies-2, General studies-3, each paper conducting 150 marks.

General studies-1 topics are History of India, Cultural Heritage, and Geography. General studies-2 topics are Indian Polity and Constitution, Public Administration and Governance, Ethics in Public Service. General studies-3 topics are Science and Technology, Indian Economy and Planning, Current Events of Regional, National and International Importance.

The candidates who are declared qualified in Mains Examination goes for the Personality Test. The total marks for Personality Test is 100. So the mains and personality test total will be 1000 marks.

The chairman of the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) is selected by the GPSC itself, by a majority vote of the members of the commission. The members of the GPSC are appointed by the Governor of Gujarat, on the recommendation of the Chief Minister.

There is no optional subject in GPSC Class 1 2 exam. All paper are compulsory in the mains examination.

There are 6 papers in the Mains Exam. 1) Gujarati language, 2) English language, 3) Essay paper, And there are three paper of General studies paper 1, 2 and 3. So optional subject are already remove so don't worry you don't need to prepare for optional subject.

If you successfully pass the UPSC examination, you earn the opportunity to join the Indian Police Service (IPS). Upon entering the IPS, you undergo comprehensive training, and upon completing the training, you are appointed as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. This initial posting is relatively brief, after which you assume the role of Superintendent of Police.

In the hierarchy of the IPS, all positions above the Superintendent of Police, such as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Additional Director General (ADG), and Director General of Police (DGP), are held by IPS officers. The progression follows the order of SP, DIG, IGP, ADG, and DGP.

Regarding the GPSC, they conduct a range of examinations, including for Class 1 and Class 2 positions. One such position is Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP), which is a Class 2 post. After serving as DYSP for approximately 8 years, you become eligible for promotion to the IPS.

Presently, the GPSC has introduced a new type of examination, a direct recruitment process, specifically for the Police Inspector position. Upon succeeding in this examination, you are appointed as a Police Inspector, a Class 2 post. With experience and tenure, you can ascend to the rank of DYSP and potentially advance further through the IPS ranks, as facilitated by the UPSC.

Yes, the syllabus of GPSC is similar to the UPSC CSE exam. The main difference is that the GPSC syllabus includes topics on the history, culture, and geography of Gujarat. Here is a table that shows the similarities and differences between the two syllabuses:

As you can see, the two syllabuses are very similar. However, the GPSC syllabus does include some additional topics that are specific to Gujarat. If you are planning to take the GPSC exam, it is important to be familiar with these topics.

GPSC class 1 2 Prelims questions are not repeated in other Class 1 2 Prelims but DySO STI PI other Class 3-4 exams do have some repeated question. Especially in History Art and Culture or Geography section. Sometimes even Maths Questions are seen twice or thrice.

Yes definitely, you can take the GPSC exam in English, from now the GPSC exam will be conduct in two language English and Gujarat.

Prelims papers come bilingual. One side will have Gujarati and the other side will have English. So Prelims wont trouble you much. But when it comes to Mains (Descriptive) Exam. There is a compulsory Gujarati Language paper. Since you are to work in Gujarat, with Gujaratis, It is required language for communication to the peers and to superiors and subordinates. The minimum qualification required for the GPSC entrance exam is graduation. The minimum age limit is 20 years and the maximum is 45 years. If you are in the last year of Graduation and completed 20 years before the last date of examination, you are eligible to appear in the exam. Provided that you clear the last year before interview.

These books are very good as far as the content is concerned. Lakshmikant will help you solve at least 25+ Questions of Polity in Prelim exam. Same goes with other books. They are available in DICS Library. One must come and check our library facilities.
