News: Recently, The Indian Army has initiated Operation Sarvashakti in the Rajouri-Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir to combat rising terrorist threats targeting security forces.

About Operation Sarvashakti:
• Operation Sarvashakti is a strategic initiative launched by the Indian Army in January 2024. The operation was initiated to counter the resurgence of terrorism in the Jammu and Kashmir region, specifically in the Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Objectives:
• Counteract Terrorism: The primary aim of the operation is to put an end to the terrorist activities backed by Pakistan in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is specifically designed to counteract the revival of terrorism by Pakistan, especially along the mountain ranges of Pir Panjal in the Union Territory.
• Enhance Troop Presence: The operation involves deploying additional troops to increase the density, thereby improving the chances of encounters with terrorists.
• Simultaneous Operations: The operation incorporates counter-terrorist attempts from both sides of the Pir Panjal range. The simultaneous operations will be conducted by security forces such as the White Knight Corps and the Chinar Corps.
• Collaborative Effort: The operation will be a combined effort of the Special Operations Group, CRPF, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The aim will be to put an end to the revival of terrorism, specifically in the Rajouri Poonch sector.

Need for Action:
• Recent years have witnessed three major terrorist attacks in the area, resulting in the loss of 20 soldiers.
• The region is known for hosting foreign terrorists, making it a significant security concern.
• Operation Sarvashakti involves deploying additional troops to increase the density, thereby improving the chances of encounters with terrorists.
