News: Post brief discontinuation during the COVID period, the Ministry of Education to restart the fourth phase of the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN)-to rope in eminent scholars from across the world to teach at Indian universities.

About:
• The Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) is a program funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It aims to tap into the international talent pool of eminent faculty members, scientists, and entrepreneurs and encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India.
• The goal is to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.
• The GIAN program includes the participation of foreign faculty/scholars in Indian Institutions as professors, guest teachers, visiting faculty, etc.
• The national coordinator for GIAN is IIT, Kharagpur.
• It is part of a broader effort to garner the best international experience into India’s systems of education.
