News: Recently, The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has approved the name ‘Statio Shiv Shakti’ for the landing site of Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander.

About:
 Statio Shiv Shakti is the landing site of Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The mission’s lander Vikram and rover Pragyan successfully touched down 600 kilometers from the south pole of the Moon on August 23, 2023.
 The name Shiv Shakti is derived from Indian mythology and symbolizes the masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) duality of nature. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this name for the Chandrayaan-3 landing site, emphasizing its significance for humanity’s welfare and strength. 
 The concept of “Shiva” represents humanity’s determination, while “Shakti” signifies the capability to actualize these humanitarian ambitions. Additionally, “Shakti” serves as a tribute to women scientists.
