Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)


Context: More than 1,000 Skype IDs involved in blackmail, extortion, and \'digital arrests\' by cybercriminals posing as police and law
enforcement authorities have been blocked by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) in collaboration with Microsoft.


• The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has been established under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to address cybercrime in the country in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.
• The primary focus of I4C is to tackle cybercrime issues for citizens, aiming to enhance coordination between various Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and stakeholders.
• The centre is headquartered in New Delhi, the capital city of India.


Function:
• Serve as a central hub in combating cybercrime effectively.
• Identify research needs and challenges faced by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), and conduct R&D activities to develop advanced technologies and forensic tools in collaboration with domestic and international academia and research institutes.
• Prevent the misuse of cyberspace by extremist and terrorist groups.
• Propose necessary amendments to cyber laws to align with rapidly evolving technologies and enhance international cooperation.
• Coordinate the implementation of Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLAT) related to cybercrimes in consultation with the relevant nodal authority within the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Platform for Joint Cyber Crime
Coordination Team
Facilitates coordination, information sharing, and collaboration
among LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies) across states and Union
Territories (UTs) to combat cybercrimes
Cybercrime Ecosystem
Management Unit
National Cybercrime Forensic
Laboratory (Investigation)
Ecosystem
Focuses on creating awareness and promoting cyber hygiene among
the public to prevent cybercrimes.
Assists LEAs in conducting cyber forensics investigations and
providing technical expertise in digital evidence analysis.
