News: Recently, the Indian delegation, led by the CBI and NIA, urged member countries to deny safe havens to crime, criminals, and the proceeds of crime at the 91st Interpol General Assembly held in Vienna, Austria. 

Context: The event marked the 100-year anniversary of the organization.

Key outcomes:
• Global Police Cooperation: The assembly brought together law enforcement leaders from Interpol’s 196 member countries. They discussed ways to leverage technology and new cooperation mechanisms.
• Addressing Global Threats: The assembly addressed critical global crime threats, including transnational organized crime, environmental crime, and preventing the circulation of child sexual abuse material.
• Real time prevention: Advocacy for real-time prevention strategies to address and mitigate the impact of crimes discussed during the assembly.
• India’s Participation: The Indian delegation held discussions with law enforcement agencies from multiple countries for enhanced coordination via Interpol channels to combat organized crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering, online radicalization, cyber-enabled financial crime.
• The assembly supported the adoption of Interpol’s Vision 2030, indicating a forward-looking approach toward addressing evolving challenges in global security.
