• The Torkham Border is located between the Pakistani city of Torkham and Afghanistan, along the Grand Trunk Road on the international border between the two countries.
• It connects Nangarhar province of Afghanistan with Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
• The Torkham Border has been an important trade route between South Asia and Central Asia and a strategic military location throughout history.
• It is the busiest port of entry between Pakistan and Afghanistan, serving as a major transporting, shipping, and receiving site. It was also the first point of entry into Pakistan for many of the 3.5 million Afghans who fled the Soviet invasion as refugees.
