Who is Shamar Joseph?
• Shamar Joseph is a Guyanese cricketer who plays for Guyana in first-class cricket and for the West Indies in international cricket.
• He hails from Baracara, a small community in East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana.
• Before becoming a cricketer, Joseph worked in the logging industry with his siblings and father, and later as a security guard to support his family.
• He made his international debut in January 2024 itself and his heroics at The Gabba where in spite of damaging his toe while batting he went on to Bowl in the 2nd innings and took 7 wickets thereby helping West Indies to beat Australia in Australia for the first time since 1997.

Lessons we can learn from Shamar:
• As he lived in a remote village it was difficult for them to manage to get Taped balls to play cricket. So, he used Fruits to practice! Anything that looked like a ball they would use it to play cricket.
• Sometimes they would melt the plastic from bottles and turn it into a ball and play cricket with that.
• Shamar Joseph’s life thus far can help us overcome our own challenges, it can motivate us to adopt to prevailing circumstance and find solutions to potential challenges. We can learn to be Dedicated, motivated and fully committed to our goals just like he did.
