News: The Indian Navy's new warship, Mahendragiri, developed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, was launched on September 1 in Mumbai.
About:
• It is a stealth frigate, which means it has a low radar signature and can evade detection by enemies. It is part of the Project 17A Frigates, which are designed and built indigenously by India.
• INS Mahendragiri is named after a mountain peak in the Eastern Ghats of Odisha. It is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensors, and platform management systems.
• It can operate in various domains such as anti-air, anti-surface, anti-submarine, and electronic warfare.
• It has a length of 149 metres, a breadth of 17.8 metres, and a speed of 28 knots. It can carry a crew of about 200 personnel. INS Mahendragiri is a symbol of India’s naval strength and self-reliance
