News: For the year 2023, the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development was awarded to Daniel Barenboim and Ali Abu Awwad.

About the winners:
• Daniel Barenboim is an Argentine-born distinguished classical pianist and conductor, known for his relentless endeavour in using music to foster harmony in West Asia.
• Ali Abu Awwad is an eminent Palestinian peace activist who has been working tirelessly with the people of Palestine and Israel for a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
• Their efforts towards a non-violent resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict have been recognized with this award.

About the Prize:
• The Indira Gandhi Prize, also known as the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize or the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, is a prestigious award given annually by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.
• It recognizes individuals or organizations for their creative efforts toward promoting international peace, development, and a new international economic order.
