News: Recently, Scientists have discovered a new fish species called Badis limaakumi in the Milak River in Nagaland, India.
About:
• Badis limaakumi is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish from the family Badidae. It was discovered in 2023 and is endemic to the Milak river of Nagaland, India. The fish is locally known as Tepdang, Akngashi, Aokngatsu, or Semp.
• The fish appears black in its natural habitat but undergoes a remarkable color change when placed in an aquarium or different environments. This ability to change color has led to the common name of this fish group being 'chameleon fish'.
