News: Recently, the Government came up with Bharat Atta which is a subsidized wheat flour scheme.

What is Bharat Atta?
• Bharat Atta is a government-backed initiative that provides affordable and high-quality wheat flour to consumers. It is a fortified wheat flour made with a blend of wheat, rice, and pulses. The flour is sold at a uniform price of Rs. 27.5 per kilogram, which is lower than the prevailing market prices.
• Bharat Atta can be purchased through cooperatives like NAFED, NCCF, and Kendriya Bhandar. These cooperatives sell Bharat Atta via 800 mobile vans and around 2,000 outlets spread across the country.

Need:
• The Government of India introduced Bharat Atta to combat inflation and make wheat flour more accessible to the public. The government has allocated 2.5 lakh tonnes of wheat for the production and sale of Bharat Atta.
• This initiative aims to further reduce food prices by providing consumers with an affordable option for their wheat flour needs.
• The significance of the Bharat Atta initiative lies in its potential to ensure food security and affordability for millions of Indians.
