News: Scientists recently discovered a massive volcano on Mars, temporarily designated ‘Noctis volcano’, that has been active until recent times, with the possible remains of a relict glacier at its base.

 Noctis Volcano, also known as Noctis Mons, is an impressive geological feature discovered on Mars.
 Noctis Volcano is situated just south of Mars’ equator, specifically in the Eastern Noctis Labyrinthus region.
 It spans an astonishing 450 kilometers (about 280 miles) and stands at an impressive elevation of 9,022 meters (30,000 feet). To put this into perspective, it’s taller than Mount Everest on Earth!

Volcanic features:
Caldera: Near the center, the remains of a collapsed crater (caldera) once filled with lava.
Mesas: A number of mesas form an arc shape, outlining the conical shape of the 
Lava Fields: Surrounding the broken terrain are lava fields.
Volcanic Deposits: A region of volcanic deposits spans approximately 5,000 square kilometers (almost 2,000 square miles) around the volcano.
