મેજર ધ્યાનચંદ:
- તેમની રમતની સમજને કારણે \'હોકીવિઝાર્ડ\' અને \'ધ મેજિશિયન\' તરીકે પ્રખ્યાત.
- તેઓ બ્રિટિશ ભારતીય સેનામાં સિપાહી (ખાનગી) તરીકે ભરતી થયા.
- તેમણે ૧૯૨૮, ૧૯૩૨અને૧૯૩૬માંભારતનાઓલિમ્પિકસુવર્ણચંદ્રકોમેળવવામાંમહત્વપૂર્ણભૂમિકાભજવીહતી.
- તેમને પદ્મ ભૂષણ (૧૯૫૬) મળ્યો.
- ચાર વર્ષ દરમિયાન ઉત્કૃષ્ટ રમત પ્રદર્શન માટે આપવામાં આવતો મેજર ધ્યાનચંદ ખેલ રત્ન પુરસ્કાર તેમના માનમાં રાખવામાં આવ્યો છે.
