Arunachal Subansiri Upper Hydel Project Gets Panel Nod

• Expert Committee Clearance: The Environment Ministry\'s Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) recommended environmental clearance for the run-of-the-river Subansiri Upper Hydroelectric Project (SUHEP) in Arunachal Pradesh.  

• Project Specifications: Executed by NHPC Limited, the 1,605 MW project near Menga features a 237-meter-high storage dam, serving the twin objectives of power generation and flood moderation.  

• Ecological Impact Concerns: Approval requires Stage-1 forest clearance as it entails diverting 2,733 hectares of forest land and felling approximately 1,35,733 trees, impacting wildlife habitat and biodiversity.
