INS Tarmugli

News: INS Tarmugli (a fast attack craft), originally known as INS Tillanchang, has recently been recommissioned into the Indian Navy.

About:
• This vessel has a unique history of serving under two nations with three different names. It was in active service until 2006, after which it was gifted to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) as MCGS Huravee.
• In May 2023, the ship was returned to the Indian Navy.
• The ship is named after Tarmugli Island, a small island in the Andaman group.
• The ship underwent extensive repair and upgradation at the Naval Dockyard in Vishakhapatnam over a period of six
months.
• The refurbished INS Tarmugli now boasts advanced features, including MTU engines, water jet propulsion, cuttingedge communication equipment, a 30- mm gun, and an advanced radar system.
• These upgrades position the vessel for crucial roles in coastal surveillance and safeguarding strategic assets in the KG Basin area and along the eastern coast of India.
