News: Recently, The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has launched the ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’ portal.

About:
• The ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’ portal is a pioneering initiative that invites Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across India to participate. The portal aims to create a robust database of key performance metrics of ULBs.
• The data submitted by the ULBs is presented on the basis of indicators across five broad pillars: Political & Administrative Structure, Finance, Planning, Citizen Centric Governance, and Delivery of Basic Services.

Benefits:
• Consolidation of Information: The portal consolidates critical information on over 4,700 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) onto one single platform. This includes data across domains such as planning, finance, and citizen services.
• Performance Improvement: By providing a clear picture of their current status in various aspects of their functioning, the portal helps ULBs improve their performance and service delivery.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: The consolidated data can be used for planning new schemes and making policy decisions.
• Transparency and Accountability: The portal establishes transparency and accountability with redressal of issues pertaining to ULBs.
