Vidyut Rakshak

Context: The Indian Army (IA) has launched a tech-based innovation called ‘Vidyut Rakshak’, an integrated generator monitoring, protection, and control system. 

1. The launch of Vidyut Rakshak marks a key milestone in the Indian Army’s “Year of Tech Absorption” initiative, showcasing its commitment to enhancing operational efficiency through technology.
2. It was developed by Major Rajprasad R S (recently showcased during ‘Exercise Bharat Shakti‘), and he also developed the ‘Portable Multi-Target Detonation Device’, which was patented by the Army.

Key Features of Vidyut Rakshak

1. Vidyut Rakshak is an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled system that allows generators to connect and exchange data with other IoT devices and the cloud.
2. It is applicable to all existing generators in the IA, regardless of their type, make, rating, and vintage.
3. In addition to monitoring generator parameters, Vidyut Rakshak enables fault prediction and prevention, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the generators.
4. The system automates manual operation through a user-friendly interface.

Portable Multi-Target Detonation Device

1. The Portable Multi-Target Detonation Device (WEDC) enables long-range demolition, allowing soldiers to detonate targets up to 2.5 km away, either wired or wirelessly.
2. This microprocessor-based system can fire at multiple targets individually or simultaneously.
