News: Recently, satellite images have suggested that China may be constructing an airstrip on Triton Island, which could be used for drones or small aircraft.

About Triton Island:
• Triton Island is a small island in the South China Sea that is part of the Paracel Islands, a group of disputed islands that are claimed by China, Vietnam, and Taiwan.
• The island has been under China’s control since 1974, when it seized it from South Vietnam in a naval battle. China has built a small harbour and a helipad on the island, as well as some buildings and a flagpole with a star and a hammer and sickle representing the ruling Communist Party.
