News: The U R Rao Satellite Centre (formerly known as ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC)), Department of Space, in Bengaluru recently observed Satellite Technology Day (STD) 2024, commemorating the 50th anniversary of India\'s first satellite launch, Aryabhata, on 19th April 1975. During the event, URSC\'s accomplishments were showcased alongside recent missions such as Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, and the X-ray Polarimeter Satellite, which have received national and international acclaim.

About Aryabhata Satellite:

• The Aryabhata spacecraft, named after the 5th Century CE mathematician and astronomer, was India\'s inaugural satellite.
• It was entirely designed and constructed in India, representing a significant milestone in the country\'s space program.
• Aryabhata was launched from Kapustin Yar, Russia, on 19th April 1975.
• India joined the ranks of spacefaring nations, becoming the world’s 11th country to successfully place a satellite into orbit.
• The satellite, developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), aimed to conduct experiments in Xray astronomy, aeronomics, and solar physics, paving the way for future advancements in space research.
