News: German author Jenny Erpenbeck and translator Michael Hofmann won the International Booker Prize for “Kairos.”
About:
• The International Booker Prize is awarded annually. It runs concurrently with the Booker Prize for English Language Fiction.
• It recognizes the finest single work of fiction from around the world which has been translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland.
• Award: £50,000 prize money divided equally between the author and the translator.
• It was established to increase the visibility of fiction written in languages other than English.
• V.S. Naipaul was the 1st Indian to win the Prize for ‘In a Free State’ in 1971.
