Dare to Dream scheme

News: Recently Minister of State for Defence has filed a reply in Parliament regarding the successful implementation of the Dare to Dream (D2D) scheme.

What is D2D scheme?
• The Dare to Dream scheme is an initiative by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in India.
• It’s a pan-India contest aimed at promoting Indian academicians, individuals, and startups to develop emerging defence and aerospace technologies/systems.
• The scheme was launched to promote innovation in defence and aerospace technologies in the country, following the idea of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Selection criteria:
• The contest is open to any individual innovator who is an Indian citizen, above 18 years of age, and startups that are recognized by DPIIT, having Indian founders.
• The selection criteria for evaluation of the entries are completeness of proposal, scientific soundness, design completeness, merit, technological readiness level achieved, and innovation.
• The winners are provided with technical and financial support by DRDO for the realization of their ideas under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme.
